He was preceded in death by his father, Edward "Ted" Louis Swindle; mother, Argin Miller Swindle; brothers, Tony Chester Stanford Leonard was born on December 6, 1950, to the union of the late Jeff and Lester Leonard. He was the eldest of three children. Chester accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and became a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Leighton, Alabama.
